Although some frameworks exist, you will be the first appointee of the organisation. You will be an experienced leader and a strategist to drive and oversee a sustainable strategy, to raise, manage and disburse funding via appropriate mechanisms to support and empower community institutions. The funds will be disbursed to achieve clear outcomes in the areas of effective and sustainable management of natural resources, development of appropriate enterprises and the strengthening of local institutions in conservancies and communal forests. This leadership position is responsible for overseeing the design, marketing, promotion, and delivery of quality programmes and services carried out under the funding and technical assistance provided. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in shaping the organization; interacting with donors, NGO’s, the business and banking sectors, government agencies and joint venture partners. While you will display sound entrepreneurial and business acumen and be financially astute, you will also be strong on rural pro-poor socio-economic development.
As CEO, you will be responsible for the strategic direction, networking, and branding of the organisation, fundraising, setting up operational systems and fund management, including operational budget, grants, funds, and investments. You will be innovative, resourceful and strategic in identifying a team to deliver conservation, institutional and enterprise interventions, which understand and respond to the needs and interests of communities, conservancies and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will have advanced governance understanding and proven marketing skills which would ideally include a demonstrated track record of designing and implementing natural resource management and rural development initiatives.
