The core focus of this position is to provide UCSF with support in terms of their data needs by developing database, dashboards, applications and other software to support its projects and programmes. Success in this role will centre on your ability to design databases to meet the needs for specific projects which include designing data entry screens for these databases, while other projects will require you to import data form existing data sources into a UCSF managed database, sometimes with data transformations. Additionally a critical component of the incumbent would be visualising data on dashboards. You would be expected to analyse data before it gets displayed, as most projects will require the data to be disclosed via dashboards. For example, data that originates from a single health facility may need to be aggregated into a district, regional or national view on the dashboard. As an integral part of the Global Programs on Research and Training, the Software Developer will be expected to meet with stakeholders, funders and government officials and draw up requirements based on their needs. In all of these activities, the developer will liaise closely with Malaria Elimination Initiative’s Health Informatics Specialist who is based in San Francisco. You will commit to adopt a creative mind-set that constantly seeks to refine information technology processes, implement new knowledge based on industry learnings and developments in the IT fraternity.
