This position aims to ensure that the project is implemented according to the established protocol. This includes supervising all project staff, their activities, and the two offices based in Katima Mulilo (UNAM) and the Ministry of Health and Social Services. The overall responsibility of the Research Manager is to supervise several field teams, each of which will conduct research in the community and at health facilities as well as supervising temporary staff brought on for additional research projects.Since the protocol for project implementation is complex and detailed, it is expected of the Research Manager to fully conceptualise and have an intimate understanding thereof for h/her to exercise authority on how to handle samples collected in the field, draft and train staff on standard operating procedures and provide ongoing supervision and capacity building. Additionally the incumbent will be responsible for creating regular action plans to ensure that activities are realized timely and meet compliance standards. Exceptional computer literacy is fundamental in supporting the successful incumbent to interpret incoming data from a geographic information surveillance system, and turn that into a plan for field teams to implement work. The incumbent will be reporting to the Deputy Director of the Multidisciplinary Research Centre (MRC) at UNAM and the Program Manager from the University of California, San Francisco.
