Surveillance and Database Analyst

The successful candidate will contribute towards the design of a regional surveillance system and manage a database that aggregates health data solicited from the eight countries. The incumbent\'s success will hinge on his/ her interest and aptitude in deploying cutting edge technology, in order to respond to and lead the design of a new regional system for disease surveillance and health data management. The incumbent will function autonomously and within teams as expected, combining an understanding of information management, and disease reporting infrastructure to inform a regional malaria elimination strategy. In addition, the incumbent will work closely with the disease surveillance personnel in the eight countries to harmonize core indicators, and to ensure the successful introduction of a regional database, manage the quality of data, conduct robust analysis, and maintain a feedback loop between the regional database hub and the country programmes.
Equally important, the incumbent will play a fundamental role in establishing this new regional organization, and will be expected to support numerous functions, beyond the core duties of this role.
